If you have the camera looking through a window the ir will bounce of the window. This allows infrared lights to be cast in an area without actually visibly lighting the area. Infrared glare also called ir glare is a common issue in security cameras with night vision. This is similar to throwing a ball straight at a wall that is perpendicular or angled to the trajectory of ball. Cameras that shine infrared on the same area or on an area that is at the edge of another camera s field of view can cause glare. One or more ir leds blast out as much light as possible acting as a floodlight.

Choose a window mount security camera when using through or behind a glass window. However through the windshield the glass is at an other than perpendicular angle to the line of sight of the camera. Get separate ir illuminators for infrared night vision security cameras and put ir illuminators outside. I was looking for a cheap way to cut down on the amount of sunlight that comes in through the windows in my shop but still let me see out clearly.

I have disabled the ir leds so as to avoid any window glare and have illuminated my driveway with an external ir spotlight with a range of 10 metres which is the length of the driveway. Infrared light is capable of shining through the glass but it will still create a reflection on a window which can hinder the security cameras image. Because infrared isn t visible to the human eye you don t even notice and your camera can use that ir light to record video at night. 2 for cameras with a glass dome cover you need to make sure the led lights on the ir board are not being obstructed by the camera body.

The ir may be reflecting off peek hole glass straight back into the camera lens. It happens when the front of a security camera is positioned too close to a wall or eaves.
