Slide the scribe tool either up or down the door all the way.
How to shave a door for hinges.
For a full length trim remove the hinges from the back.
Open the door and make sure it moves freely over the tarp.
Mark it for shaving.
At some point the pencil will begin to draw a line on the door transferring any angle on the door jamb to the side of the door.
Remove the hinges from the door.
Turn the door so that the edge requiring adjustment is facing you.
Clamp the door to two sawhorses in a vertical position with the side that rubs facing up.
If you have even the slightest bevel on the hinge side you will put stress on the hinges when you mount the door.
If you are unable to take the door down for some reason you can still do this with the door on its hinges.
Draw a line across the top of the door where it touches the frame.
Hold it in place between your legs and plane the high spots from above.
Step 1 lay the tarp out so that the door will open over it.
A shaved door has a steel cable for the latch release inside the door and a solenoid.
Remove the screws holding the hinges to the jamb with a drill driver or screwdriver.
A standard 35 pound solenoid will unlock and open a car door wide enough to grab the door with a hand which is why door handles are obsolete for this method of remote car entry.
The solenoid does the real work of unlocking and opening car doors.
